Have you ever wondered why most of our zippers have ‘YKK’ marking on them?

Ever noticed a clear YKK written on zippers, no matter where in the world you buy your clothes from? It is because Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha, the zipper manufacturing company operates in 71 countries and makes half of the zippers that are found all around the world.

Yoshida Manufacturing Shareholding Company, owned by Tadao Yoshida has been in the Tokyo market since 1934 but has grown into an empire of fasteners in the following years, with a production of 7 billion zippers per annum. The company is known for its durable zips that come in different colours and sizes. This is why you are likely to see a YKK embossed on any zipper that is used in your clothing.
