It is undoubtedly silly to assume that any nation can progress without education and most importantly tertiary education as all great innovations come into being on the basis of the knowledge that is gained and then reproduced by the PhDs, such as the innovation of GPS or computers or smartphones. This correlation can easily be identified by the number of PhD graduates in a country and the growth of that nation globally. OECD revealed a report recently to do just that.
