These photographs of children are filled with magic

Kids playing with stuff toys, petting a furry cat and sleeping cozily on the bed may sound like appropriate yet cliched childhood photography settings however, when the same scenes are captured by architect-turned-photographer mom, Iwona Podlasińska, they become anything but cliched. Podlasińska is a mother of two young boys who are solely responsible for making their mom realize her passion for photography by being the perfect muse.

The photographer is keen on capturing the ephemeral moments of happiness that involve her children, spontaneously but not without adding a tinge of magic into them. Her photographs do comprise of real subjects and settings but she takes full creative liberty in transforming the final frame into something that seems straight out of a child’s imagination.

“I can say that [my style] is something between dreams and reality. I try to capture real situations but with a hint of children’s imagination, turning everyday scenes into magical images straight from a fairytale. I love to capture those moments that last only a second although they may seem like those were hours. People often wonder how I make the kids stay in one place long enough to take a photo but the truth is that those are only seconds and I need to be fast.”
